NEW FACILITIES |
| Cardrona has purchased a high speed detachable
quad chairlift for the Captain`s Basin. The new Poma chairlift will be
ready to ride at the start of the 2008 season.
The Captains Express chairlifts speed will be two and a
half times quicker than the existing quad with a journey only taking 3
minutes versus the existing 9 minutes. Assuming no queue, a person who skied
11 runs at Captains Basin would ski them one hour faster due to faster
chairlifts.
Snowmaking is also being expanded into the Captains Basin.
Eleven new snow guns in addition to the thirteen guns in the
Main Basin will supplement Cardronas renowned natural snow base. It will give
skiers and snowboarders peace of mind for a good start early in the season.
|
PARK |
The PARK
is 1000m in length and full of features, which create
New Zealand's most well-known terrain park. Features
include a comprehensive rail section, boxes, kickers,
hips, natural hips etc.
The park is divided giving more space for improved
safety and flow. |
HALF PIPES |
| The half
pipes are separate from the park allowing more room
for the four pipes, people, and safety. With the
capability to make four half pipes it has more pipes
than any other ski area in the Southern Hemisphere.
They are the International, Rookie, Moro Monster
and the Johnny, and are all built to Superpipe dimensions.
All four pipes are maintained by the Super Pipe
Magician.
The half pipes will be opened on a sequential
basis as snow permits, starting with the International.
For the majority of the season the Rookie will
be off limits to the public as this pipe is set
aside especially for the NZ Snowboard Camp program.

Camp programme and how to join click
