1. Q What is included in the price?
A. Accommodation ,Transport, Car Insurance Accommodation is inclusive
of Power, Gas, Fire Wood, Water Hot and Cold, Local Phone Calls, Free Internet, Free Laundry.

2. Q What is not included in the price?
A. Travel Insurance, Gasoline, Food and any other items that you use for your own daily needs.


3.Q How can I make Payment?
A. Telegraphic transfer is the easiest way or direct credit in to our bank account.


4. Q How can I get my Lift pass?
A. Your lift pass is usually picked up when you arrive in New Zealand at the ski resort
of your choice. If you provide a photo with your application it is possible for us to hold the pass for you and give it to you on arrival.


5. Q What are New Zealand Visa requirements?
A. For many Nationalities you do not need to possess a visa to visit New Zealand if your stay will be for no longer than 90 days. After your arrival in New Zealand you will receive a stamp on your passport entitling you to stay for 90 days as a tourist ( snowboarders and skiers are tourist)
It is possible to extend your stay for a total period of up to 270 days, with 90 days on each extension.

We can assist you with any of the above. Each extension requires a fee of about $80 to NZ immigration   


6. Q Who will I share the house with?
A. If you book with your friend/s you will most likely have the same room.
If you book in a group with 6 or more you will most likely have your own house.
You may share with people from Japan, Korea and Europe, but if you prefer to stay with the same Nationality we can organize that too.


7. Q How do I get to the Ski fields?
A. We provide the transport for you to share with the people you stay with. You can use the car together among the people you stay with at any time to get to the Ski Fields, go Shopping and to any other places you may like to visit.

You will require an international license to drive in New Zealand. If you are not able to drive we will put you in a house with people who can when possible. The other option is a season bus pass for around $800.


8. Q How do I get to Wanaka-house from the airport?
A. We offer a free airport pick up through out the season, this is subject to availability also due to bad weather, and the rear occasion of road closure, it may not be possible in those cases. We can book your bus or domestic airfare for those who wish to arrive by themselfs, the cost of the fare will be charged to the customer.


9. Q Where is the closest airport?
Wanaka is the closest airport next is Queenstown and then Christchurch. Wanaka and Queenstown are domestic and Christchurch is international.


10. Q Where is Wanaka located?
A. Wanaka is located in the South Island of New Zealand just one hourfs drive from famous Queenstown and 5&half hours by car from Christchurch.


11. Q When does the ski season start?
A. The ski season starts in Mid June with all ski fields open by the end of June. The season ends around the 10 of October, The Snow Park may run until the end of October snow permitting.


12. Q Do you have tuning facilities in the house?
A. Yes we have tuning facilities (Waxing table and a iron)


13. Q What Should I bring with me?
A. We supply all linen (sheets blankets towels) All you need to bring is warm clothing your ski/snowboarding equipment and any personal items you would like to bring.


14. Q Is the power supply different in New Zealand?
Yes in New Zealand the power supply is 240V we have adaptors and transformers here for you to use, but due to many different power supplies around the world please check with us to see that we have what will fit your appliance.


15. Q Are there any super markets and shops near by?
In Wanaka there is a super market, fruit and vegi market, fish market, butchery, a few bakeries, many shops and restaurants.


16. Q Can I make phone calls and use the internet from the house?
A. Yes all houses have the phone connected for phone calls and internet. We provide a computer with an internet connection, it is also possible to use your own lap top.


17. Q How long does it take from Wanaka to the ski fields?
A. Cardrona, Snow Park and Treblecone are all about 40minutes away. Twenty minutes to the foot of the mountain and then another twenty minutes or so up the mountain.
In heavy snow it will take longer.


18. Q What about if I am a beginner can I still participate?
A. Sure if you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced you can participate..

20. Q Are there any ski/snowboard lessons?
A. Yes there are you can take lessons on the ski fields just ask us and we can book for you.


21. Q Are there any ski/snowboard rentals?
A. Yes you can rent from snowboard shops in Wanaka, Cardrona, or Treblecone ski field.
The snow park currently does not have any rentals, but its still a kick ass Park!


22. Q What happens if I get injured?
A. There is a ski patrol and a medical clinic at Cardrona, Snow Park and Treblecone,
and two doctors in Wanaka. We will help in any way we can in the event of an injury.


23. Q Please tell me about the weather in Wanaka?
A. Wanaka has a low humidity climate. Temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) are quite common in summer with cooler temperatures down to 10 degrees Celsius in winter.


24. Q Please tell me about the road conditions?
A. Wanaka like most places in New Zealand it rarely snows in the town, if it does usually only once or twice a year. The roads are not salted, but often they drop stones on the steep and windy mountain roads to act like chains and give you more grip on the road.
There may not be much snow on the roads compared to other countries but they still can be icy and dangerous if your not careful. Most ski field roads are not sealed looking very old fashioned but giving more grip and safety on the road. On occasions some roads may be closed due to heavy snow, these are between Wanaka and Queenstown (Crown Range) and the road in Ashburton. (Hywy1), which is the road that must be taken to get to and from Wanaka. Please take care on all roads especially early morning! Black ice is hard to see on a black road.

25. Q How many people do I need to book to become a group?
A. 4 to 5 people for your own car and 6 to 8 people for your own house.
Subject to availability.


26. Q How do I get a repeater or a group discount?
We offer repeaters and groups a small discount depending on season and duration of stay.
A. To receive a group discount there must be 8 or more people in the group.


27. Q Can I make any changes?
A. After payment or booking fee has been made and you whish to make changes a fee may apply.


28. Q What happens if I cancel?
A. If you whish to cancel we cannot refund the season pass fee or the booking fee.
After payment has been made the following charges will apply to
the total price excluding the booking fee and season pass.
10% cancellation fee if cancelled before 1 May.
20% cancellation fee if cancelled before 1 June.
50% cancellation fee if cancelled after the ski field opens.
100% cancellation fee if cancelled after departure date.
(We recommend an insurance policy to cover you against any cancellations).
In some cases we may credit our services back to you or a friend of your choice in the event of injury, sickness, or family illness. In this case there will be no cancellation fee! Wow!
Wanaka-House has the right to make the decision based on evidence supplied.
